We are a Radio Control Aircraft Club, based in Washington, Illinois. We’re a family oriented, members only organization that flies all types of aircraft / drones. We meet monthly, fly whenever we can, support model aviation and our community, and generally try to have a Safe and Fun time!
Our club, formed in 1992, as Summit Valley R/C Flyers in East Peoria. In 2005 we moved to the City of Washington, Il., park district land and incorporated as Washington R/C Flyers. It continues at the same site, now owned by Barry Vinyards, LLC.
We’re an AMA registered club and follow their guidelines for flight and safety.
We fly many kinds of R/C aircraft including trainers, sport, scale, warbirds, EDF jets, foamies, gliders, quad copters, helicopters and more.
We don’t however allow Rocketry, turbine engines, or firearms at our field.
Our membership in 2024 is currently 22 and range in age from 13 to 80 plus, with a wide range of skills from beginner to advanced.
Our field is located at the Tres Rojas Winery in Washington Illinois. It has a 200′ x 35′ mat runway (perfect for aircraft with small wheels) and 5 acres of mowed area (for those planes needing a little more space for takeoffs and landings. A shelter for those sunny/hot days or rain squalls that happen now and then, and for our monthly summer meetings and events.
